Austin Channing Brown

Bestselling Author • Inspirational Leader • Social Justice Advocate

Austin Channing Brown is a leading and inspired voice on racial justice, identity, and Black womanhood in America. She is the New York Times bestselling author of I’m Still Here: Black Dignity in a World Made for Whiteness, a Reese Witherspoon’s Book Club pick, and Full of Myself: Black Womanhood and the Journey to Self-Possession, books that have sparked conversation, challenged norms, and invited readers into deeper reflection and action.

“Most people say, ‘that books has legs;’ I measure the impact of a book by how often I throw it across the room. [Austin’s book] has serious wings. It broke me open.”— Brené Brown

With her signature blend of honesty, cultural insight, and grace, she creates work that meets people where they are, in their curiosity, discomfort, hope, and yearning for a more just world. Whether she’s on the page, onstage, or in conversation, she refuses to shy away from the complexities of race, faith, gender, and belonging, and instead offers a path toward understanding, accountability, and collective liberation.

As executive producer and host of the acclaimed web series The Next Question, Brown centers the experiences and brilliance of Black women while illuminating how systems of power shape our lives and communities. She has also written a young readers edition of I’m Still Here and contributed essays to two anthologies, Hungry Hearts and You Are Your Best Thing, a New York Times Bestseller edited by Tarana Burke and Brené Brown.

Austin earned her BA in Business Management from North Park University and a MA in Social Justice from Marygrove College. She has also been awarded an honorary doctorate from Oakland University in Michigan. She continues to shape spaces that value dignity, challenge inequity, and imagine a world where all people can thrive.

She was phenomenal. I loved the content and her authenticity. I really appreciated how she tied it to our theme so seamlessly. I have many takeaways that I will be integrating into my work and personal life for sure.
